Annual Scholarship Show and Awards
Each year the Arts Council has the honor of hosting several art scholarships and awards available to area high school juniors and seniors. These awards are: The Betty Ann Osborne Memorial Scholarship for $1500, The Pearl in Hand Scholarship for $1000, The Huckle Award for $750, and three Honorable Mention Awards for $100 each.Any high school junior or senior living in Antrim or Charlevoix county is eligible. The Betty Ann Osbourne Memorial Scholarship and The Pearl in Hand Scholarship are open only to high school seniors who are continuing on to college to study Fine Arts. The Huckle Award and the Honorable mentions are open to both juniors and seniors regardless of their area of study.
Applications have been sent to Art Educators and Counselors at Antrim and Charlevoix schools. Applications are also available on-line at the Jordan River Arts Council web site( www.jordanriverarts.com <http://www.jordanriverarts.com> .) The deadline to submit applications is April 19.
The Scholarship show will open on Sunday May 17 at 1:00 pm. at the Jordan River Arts Center, 301 Main Street, East Jordan. The Awards Ceremony will be at 2:00 pm. that day. Students must be present to receive an award. The show will be open to the public May 17 thru June 6, from 1:00-4:00 pm daily.
