Workshop Redux II Exhibit Opens at JRAC

A diverse exhibit, Workshop Redux II opens Easter Sunday, April 12 at the Jordan River Art Center, 301 Main St., East Jordan. With the success of Redux I, a second such exhibit features works by participants and the teachers in the many workshops JRAC has sponsored since 2003. Numerous works produced as a result of those participating are worthy of exhibition. Over forty workshop participants including some of the workshop instructors will have over 100 works on display with many for sale.

The Jordan River Arts Council goals in offering workshops are: to encourage experimentation in new ways of expressing oneself artistically, to provide a group experience in working in the arts, to deepen understand of a particular art medium and to experience creativity and fun. The works on exhibition have met these goals.

Represented in this show are a variety of fiber arts— fussion quilting, quilting for therapy, shibori dying, knitting, felting, embellishments, and Japanese shadow knitting. Other media included are recycled jewelry, beading, basketry, quill making, printmaking, and ceramics. Sylvia Walworth, board member and curator of this exhibit states, It is exciting to see how the participants have used what they have learned in their finished works.

The exhibit runs through May 8 and is open daily from 1-4 p.m. Other times can be arranged. For further information contact Sylvia at 231-599-3065 or sylwalworth@torchlake.com and JRAC www.jordanriverarts.com.
