Paint the Town - Call to Artists

 Call to Artists for Paint the Town Exhibit Sept 8th—Oct 8th, 2017 


Goal: To welcome and also broaden community participation in the arts by highlighting local people, places and things that are not often the subjects for artworks.



                      A) People—Depict people in towns in Charlevoix/Antrim Counties who are in the service & industry sectors (bar tenders, waitresses, barbers, seamstresses fishermen, factory workers, farmers, house painters, farm workers etc. Paint musicians, entertainers, dock hands, quilting groups, people bowling, those in bingo halls etc.

                       B) Places---Depict interior & exterior scenes of bars, restaurants, homes, porches, churches, bowling allies, bingo halls, barns, farm stands, flower shops,  barber & beauty shops, boat works, marinas, retail establishments, ice cream parlors, hot dog stands, farmer’s market stands, summer festival events etc.


                        C) Depict---Paint farm equipment, tractors, boats, trains, buses, entry doors etc.


Call for Art is open to all area artists. Works in all media will be accepted by Paint the Town committee. At least one work must be an East Jordan person, place or thing. 

Please respond with intent to exhibit by August 15th to or or by phone to the Arts Council 231-536-3385. 

Participating artists are asked to provide contact information for persons and places they have depicted for the purpose of inclusion in our invitation list.

The committee reserves the right to refuse art that does not meet our criteria. JRAC takes a 30% commission on all art sold.
