Scholarship Show Application Form
Students must complete the application by April 10, 2010. Go the "Contact Us" page on this website and click on the "Scholarship Application Form" and it will take you to the form that you can fill out online and submit to JRAC. The Jordan River Arts Council is pleased to announce the Scholarship Competition for 2010. Three scholarships plus three honorable mention awards will be given. The Exhibit will take place at the Jordan River Arts Center May 16 through June 11. An opening reception will be from 1:00-4:00 pm on Sunday May 16. Awards will be announced at 2:00 pm. Students must be present to receive any award.
The Betty Osborne Scholarship of $1500 is awarded to a High School Senior
upon receipt of their first semester grades, pursuing the study of art at college
The Pearl in Hand Scholarship of $1000 is given by artist Betty Beeby to a
High School Senior upon receipt of their first semester grades, pursuing the
study of art at college (see requirements for this Scholarship below)
The Huckle Award of $750 is given to a High School Junior or Senior
Three Honorable Mentions of $100 are given to High Schools Juniors or
Seniors
Requirements
1. Students must complete the application or apply online at www.jordanriverarts.com by Friday, April 10, 2010. Mailed applications go to the address at the top of the page, attention: Cynthia Tschudy
2. Students must submit between 3 to 5 works of art in any medium. Size is not limited but works should be ready for hanging. Works must be original. No derivatives (copies of other artist’s work) will be accepted. The enclosed labels should be affixed to the back of each work and accompanied by an entry inventory, also enclosed.
These works are due at the Art Center Wednesday, May 6 between 3:00 – 5:00 pm
Note: The Pearl in Hand Scholarship has some other specific requirements, please read the enclosed explanation carefully.

The Pearl in Hand Scholarship

Requirements
1. State three reasons why you want to be an artist and continue your education in the field of art. These should be personal answers coming from your heart. Use a separate piece of paper and attach this to your application.
2. Attach a letter of recommendation from your art teacher or other adult who supports your interest in furthering your education in art.
3. Select one of the subjects below and create an 8.5 x 11 drawing to bring to your interview with Betty Beeby. In this drawing you want to show both skills and creativity. Use the drawing medium that best suits your talents and choice of subject matter.

The Arts Council will arrange an interview between you and Betty Beeby at the art center between May 10 and May 14. Be prepared to show your drawing, discuss your work and your goals as an artist. (Betty is a wonderful and easy person to talk to, so don’t be intimidated by this)
