Rare Threads - Eclectic Meanderings - Call for Entries
Hello Fiber Artists,
Rare Threads is returning in 2010 and we invite you to submit works in fiber art. What is Rare Threads? In the 1990's, the Jordan River Arts Council had two juried fiber art shows. Call them Rare Threads 1 and 2. These were followed by Rare Threads with a Twist, Rare Threads with Another Twist (2006), and Rare Threads on the Fringe(2008). The Arts Council has loved hosting these shows and each show has contained exceptional fiber art. In the Fall of 2010 we will sponsor Rare Threads-Eclectic Meanderings.
For Rare Threads--Eclectic Meanderings consider winding rambles, perhaps your own meanderings in the field of fiber arts, your journey. The word "eclectic" suggests borrowing of a variety of styles or perhaps a string of "e" words. Consider Exotic, Exuberant, Enthusiastic, Energetic, Ethnic, Ethereal, Egocentric, Ecological, Effervescent, Exciting, Emotional, Effortless. Okay, maybe not effortless. Fiber art often takes time to create. We want to give you plenty of time to contemplate and create your art for our 2010 Rare Threads.
So here are the timelines and dates to remember:
Rare Threads- Eclectic Meanderings
Will open October 3 and run through November 12, 2010
Deadline for submission of art is August 16, 2010
Art will be juried on August 18, 2010
Notification by August 25, 2010
Art must be in the committees hands by September 13, 2010
Submission of your art can be in digital, photographic or the actual work itself.
Registration forms will be on the JRAC website, www.jordanriverarts.com. starting in March of 2010. The website will have workshop information and show updates very soon. We will be sending you postcard and email reminders in February 2010.
