METAMORPHOSIS

A CHALLENGE TO ARTISTS

March 28 – April 30 2010

The Jordan River Arts Council is pleased to invite you to take part in the Metamorphosis Art Exhibition at the Arts Center. The show opens on Sunday March 28, 2010 from 1-4 pm with an opening reception for artists, members and friends. The show will remain open daily from 1-4 pm until April 30.

The challenge to you as an artist is to create a piece of work based on the idea of transformation or change. Over the years artists have done this in many ways. One example of change would be the tessellations of MC Escher showing a flying bird metamorphosing into a fish. Monet had a different take on change when he painted a series of haystacks showing how light at different times of day created new and changing images of the same subject.  Many digital artists manipulate images to transform them into something new. Often artists take familiar objects and recycle and transform them into new images.  These are just a few ideas. The Jordan River Arts Council is interested in seeing how you create a work based on the idea of transformation or change. This promises to be an exciting and intriguing exhibit.
