I grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan but we always lived on the edge of the city. It was a time when allowing children to roam freely was a safe thing to do. I spent a good deal of time playing in woods and fields and developing a love of nature and animals that later led to a move to northern Michigan in 1971.

But, horses have always been my passion, and they are most often the subject of my artwork. I've been a horse owner and rider for many years and have created many horse portraits for clients all over the country. My concentration now is on creating artwork for exhibitions and for my own enjoyment and growth.

An associates degree in commercial art from Northwestern Michigan College comprises my formal art training. That has been supplemented with additional courses in drawing and painting, workshops and self study.

In 2006 I was accepted as an associate member of the prestigious American Academy of Equine Art, located in Lexington Kentucky. I've won awards in national juried exhibitions, and my work is internationally collected.

I'm a realist painter who works primarily in oil and pastel, but I also enjoy the process of drawing for its own sake. The inspiration for my paintings are found at horse shows and events, on trail rides and just about anywhere in our wonderful northwest Michigan area.

Much more of my work can be seen at Adams Madams in Central Lake and on my website.
