Rare Threads: Ancestral Inspirations

Rare Threads, JRAC's biennial juried fiber exhibit, opens Sunday, September 18. Plan to attend the reception on that date from 1:00-4:00 PM to launch this colorful and diverse show. The exhibit will be open daily from 1:00-4:00 PM through October 23. Over sixty pieces of fiber art have been selected, representing the work of thirty five artists, for this ninth Rare Threads. On display will be quilting, weaving, knitting, crochet, embroidery, and more. Some pieces are vintage textiles while many others are contemporary creations inspired by family heirlooms. If you enjoy fibers and history, don't miss "Ancestral Inspirations!"

In conjunction with the exhibit JRAC will also present three fiber-themed workshops:

"Oversized Flower Power" with Debra Danko, Saturday, September 24 from 10 AM - 4:00 PM. Techniques for producing realistic floral quilts.

"20th Century Hand Embroidery" with Kathleen Glynn, Saturday, October 1 from 10 AM - 4:00 PM Traditional  stitchery with contemporary applications.

"Ice Dyeing" with Linda Van Andel and Julie Hurd, Saturday, October 8 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. Dye fabrics with watercolor effects to use in your quilting and craft projects.
