Havana 2015

Pop Up Exhibit January 23 and 24

Tuesdays at JRAC DETAILS

Featured Exhibit

On Saturday, January 23rd, the East Jordan Arts Council is happy to present the opening of a new photography exhibit – Havana 2015.   Three photographers and a fiction writer from Northern Michigan recently travelled to Cuba – a country poised for change.  They photographed strangers met in chance encounters on the streets of Havana and in the lush Cuban countryside.

Traditional Cuban culture is palpable in these engaging, sensual images, which reflect the ingenuity of a joyful people whose lives are surely about to change as restrictions from the United States are eased almost on a weekly basis.

Join us to view photos by Kathy Silbernagel, Kathie Carpenter, Emmy Holman and Babs Young.  Hear their stories and share the excitement of their journey. The opening reception with refreshments will take place on Saturday, January 23rd from noon until 6:00 p.m. On Sunday, January 24th from noon until 5:00 p.m. there will be a brief talk by the artists at 2:30 p.m. The exhibit will continue until February 4. The gallery will be open again on January 30 and 31 from 1:00 to 4:00 and other times by appointment.
