Sketchbook Exhibit

Opening reception Feburary 23,1:00 - 4:00

In 2013 the Jordan River Arts Council distributed over 100 sketchbooks to artists who committed to returning them for exhibit in a year along with a companion piece of art. . The responses to this challenge are widely varied and give insight into the creative process. Essentially there were no rules or suggested themes. Sketchers of all ages and persuasions, working in many mediums, participated. Most worked individually, but others took on the challenge with partners, as a class or as a family group. Sketchbooks became workbooks, journals or stand-alone pieces of art. Some completed more than one sketchbook others left blank pages. Participants were asked to include statements reflecting their experience with this project. This exhibit opens on Sunday, February 23rd, 1-4pm and ends on March 21st. Following this, a small sampling of the sketchbooks will become a traveling exhibit. Eventually the books will be housed at the Jordan District Library for reference. This project was partially funded through a generous grant from the Charlevoix County Community Foundation.
