Squared and Squared Again--Big and Little
The Jordan River Arts Council’s first exhibit of the 2012 year, SQUARED AND SQUARED AGAIN opens February 12, 1 pm. with a reception for artists, family and friends.
Over thirty artists have met the challenge. The challenge was to create works of
art using the square, any size. Some artists have created two works some related and some not. Different media both 2 and 3 dimensional. A wide variety of subjects have been chosen.
Most interesting is a piece by Mary Guntzviller, Bellaire, “E=mc 2,” a mixed media work using clear plastic, with many small units and a large unit all in one. Another is a work by Kathie Briggs, Charlevoix, “Squared in Japanese,” a fiber work of two squares in one. John Stevens has submitted a neon sculpture, “Boxed In,” Three squares, neon in red, yellow, and blue and a figure within.
During the opening guests will be invited to create an inch square piece using collage materials similar to the squares as done in the “Love of Letters” Show. Guests may take them home or leave them for display. Refreshments served by the JRAC Board. The exhibit runs through March 16. It should be noted that the Jordan River Art Center, 301 Main St., East Jordan. During exhibits, hours have clanged, being open Tuesday through Sunday, closed Mondays and holidays.
