Annual Arts Invitational
This year we are honoring Jane Diller and John Stevens, JRAC Board Members and East Jordan Chamber of Commerce’s choice for “Citizens of the Year” for 2010. Not only are John and Jane indefatigable workers for JRAC, each is an artist as well. Their work will join that of the many magnificent and amazing artists in our community. This is a great show to see the progress, new directions and other changes in our artists’ work. It is a yearly event that is a great attraction for members, the local community and our summer visitors. The prices are reasonable and this is a good chance for you to add to your collection. Last year nearly 50 artists submitted works for this show. Invitations will soon be sent asking for artists’ submissions. Located 28 S. Lake St., downtown Boyne City. This site has a little of everything “Up North” and all decked out from celebrating Independence Day. The Chamber building is a log cabin with a lovely cottage garden. It is surrounded by water views with Sunset Beach, the Municipal Marina and the Boyne River all within a block. Norma Fell is our hostess and Dick Cunningham our host.

Jordan Valley Community Band
The Jordan Valley Community Band's presents a summer series of
concerts. The concerts will be presented at 7:30 PM on Thursdays
in July in East Jordan's downtown Memorial Park.
The park's band shell is near the town's
waterfront where its marina is located and where the famous
Jordan River flows into Lake Charlevoix.
Members of the band travel from towns in Charlevoix
and Antrim counties to participate in each week's concerts
and range in age from students to senior citizens.
The band's repertoire will include a good
representation of all concert band genres but concert goers
will also be able to enjoy many familiar and ever-popular
marches.

Fox Cottage, 01073 Sweet Pea Lane, Walloon Lake. Take Hwy 75 from Boyne City towards Walloon Lake Village. Just before the village turn left on South Shore Drive (look for a sign that says 1499—Down). Proceed 0.4 miles to Sweet Pea Lane and turn right by white fence. The blue-green Fox cottage is the second on the right. Park in the driveway or on the road. The turn-of-the-century cottage, charming guesthouse and gardens featuring decades old phlox and iris beds against the distinctively blue waters of Walloon Lake provide subject matter. Yvonne Schmidt will be our hostess.

The Ray Bier Gallery/ Cal Kemppainen and Patti Dimond’s Windridge Studio. 03500 US-31S, approx. 6 miles south of Charlevoix. Turn east onto Ferry Rd. Parking will be at the first driveway on the left after the gallery parking lot. Ray’s gallery is housed in a classic red and white schoolhouse. While across Ferry Rd., the Windridge Studio consists of a yellow Gothic Revival home with gingerbread trim, pear and apple orchards, and a granary with 360-degree views that include Lake Michigan and the surrounding hills, fields and forests. Margie Guyot is our hostess.
