Chinese and Japanese Drawing and Watercolor Painting Workshop
January 23, 30 and February 13, 1:00 to 3:00 pm Workshop by Peter Balestrieri
CHINESE AND JAPANESE DRAWING AND WATERCOLOR PAINTING
This workshop will be held in the lower gallery at JRAC. Peter will concentrate on the difference in brush techniques, paper and paint. Peter and Elizabeth Balestrieri now of Bellaire lived in Japan for 20 years where Peter taught drawing and painting. At a young age he studied in Florence, Italy. Before living in Japan they resided in Milwaukee, opened an Art Gallery and Peter taught drawing at the University of Wisconsin
Limited to 10 students. Call 231-533-6340 for supply list and more information. Fee $60.00

Art/Travel Study Group
A new study group has started at JRAC. For those who love travel and art, stop by our first official meeting on Monday, February 1 at 3:00 p.m. Andi Gerring, a JRAC member and adjunct art history professor at NCMC, will be leading the discussion. Anyone who has a love of art and is willing to travel great distances to view it, will enjoy this group. The group is planning to meet the first Monday of each month at 3:00 p.m. unless otherwise arranged. For more information contact Andi Gerring at 231-588-2202 or agerring@ncmich.edu

History of Chinese and Japanese Art
January 24, 1:30 p.m. Lecture by Peter Balestrieri
HISTORY OF CHINESE AND JAPANESE ART
Peter and Elizabeth Balestrieri now of Bellaire lived in Japan for 20 years where Peter taught drawing and painting. He will bring several art works from his own collection to illustrate the history of this art.
At a young age he studied in Florence, Italy. Before living in Japan they resided in Milwaukee, opened an Art Gallery and Peter taught drawing at the University of Wisconsin. Peter will also be teaching a workshop on Japanese painting. See January 23 for more information. about this workshop

Elements of Plein Aire Painting - Lecture/Discussion
January 31,1:30 pm Lecture/Discussion by Carol Ross
ELEMENTS OF PLEIN AIRE PAINTING
This lecture is based on the notes from her working with Charles Hawthorn and Edgar Payne. She has traveled to California, Vermont and Maryland to study with artists of the Plein Aire Society. Carol will bring her own works developed from the workshops. Also a DVD is available.
Carol, a painter of renown from Boyne City has exhibited throughout Michigan and her work can be found in many collections. She has served on the JRAC Board and the Crooked Tree Board.
