The Jordan River Art Center will be transformed from a gallery space to living spaces during “Art and Design Entwined.” During this exhibit, the main gallery will be divided into rooms, which will serve as “blank canvases” for interior designers. A living room, dining room, library/study, master bedroom, child's bedroom and an entertainment room will be created showcasing the works of local artists and craftsmen. On display will be handcrafted furniture, fibers, and lighting inspired and complemented by paintings, sculpture, glass, ceramics and other art works.
The designers taking part include Jennifer Aenis, Julie Cross, Sylvia Walworth, Babs Young, Pat Poineau, Cindi Malin, Karen Brennan and Judy Wagner-Worgess. Numerous artists from across the region will be featured throughout the gallery. Among them are furniture makers Ron Abfalter,Joe Buteyn, Paul Czamanske, Matt Joppich, and Bill Perkins, Bob Purvis; automotive/furniture designer Joe Wagner; potters Stephen Kostyshyn, David and June Otis, Marty Benateau, Lynn Fisher; glassblower Glenna Haney, Boyer Glassworks ; metal artist Laura Barber; neon artist John Stevens; painters Cal Keppianes, and Martina Hahn, Liz Kantzer ; printmaker Meredith Krell; paper artist Sheila Barnes; fiber artists Sylvia Walworth, Diane Strzelinski, Nancy Carey, Marsha Waara; doll maker Gretchen Lima and others. Complementing the show in the lower gallery will be an exhibit featuring displays of architectural, landscape and interior designers' presentation boards.
The exhibit is open daily from 1 - 4pm or by appointment from April 6 through May 9, 2008. The Jordan River Art Center is located at 301 Main Street, East Jordan. or Questions may be directed to Nancy Carey at 231 536-7812.
