The Jordan River Arts Council is presenting an exhibit, “Clay Artists and Friends” opening Sunday, January 20th and running through Friday, February 15th. The show features the work of 14 ceramic artists from the Charlevoix - Emmet county area. In addition, each of them has invited another artist whose work they admire to join in the exhibit. The Jordan River Arts Center is at 301 Main St. in East Jordan. The Center is open daily 1-4 p.m. Other times for viewing can be arranged by calling Dick Cunningham, (231) 582.9373.
In relationship to the exhibit JRAC in cooperation with North Central Michigan College is also presenting two hands on workshops. Doug DeLind is giving a two day Raku workshop on January 19th and 26th. ). Mr. DeLind is a noted raku artist and sculptor from Mason, MI.
Dana Shearin is presenting a glaze development workshop February 1st and 2nd. Ms. Shearin holds an MFA from Cranbrook and a BFA from Alfred University. She is a builder of kilns, a teacher and a working studio artist from Evanston, IL. For workshop information and registration, call North Central Michigan College at (231) 348-6705.
