Equine Divine Receives Many Accolades

Equine Divine or Horsin' Around opened Sunday, February 14 with many artists and patrons in attendance throughout the entire afternoon. Many of those attending were new to the art center. Most of the exhibiting artists were present connecting with all. Patrons exclaimed “Wonderful,” “Excellent,” “Great Idea ,” “What a great Gallery”! “This is an exhibit not to be missed.” The horse has been rendered in so many different media that there is something appealing to each patron.

Twenty three artist had work on exhibition with works on loan from seven different collectors. Works consisted of Photographs with some digitized or encaustic covered, with some back lighting, watercolors, weavings, some using horse hair, clay sculpture and other clay objects, oil paintings,pencil and charcoal drawings, pastels, wood carving, collages, copper wire sculpture, paintings on unstretched canvas, embellished sewing,felted wools pillows, shibori T-Shirts, jewelry, Naive American painting and drum, prints, chinese brush paintings and Nepalese painting , and a .mobile. Many of the works are for sale. A beautiful catalog, created by curator, Sylvia Walworth can be obtained free by attending the exhibit.

Please note: The exhibit runs only until February 9, at the Jordan River Art Center, 301 Main St., East Jordan and is open daily from 1-4 pm. For further information contact Sylvia Walworth, 1 231 599 3065.

The Jordan Valley District Library is sponsoring the reading of “Step UP! A Mackinac Island Tale, by Cathy Hahn. The entire event will take place at the Jordan River Art Center at 4 pm, January 24, not the library. Refreshments will be provided by Friends of the Library and a hand on project provided by JRAC.
