Rare Threads with Another Twist now showing at the Jordan River Art Center features over 90 fiber works by 37 Michigan artists. The exhibit is breath taking and vibrant with color everywhere in a great variety of fiber media; including quilts demonstrating most unusual techniques, basketry including quill work, doll art, weavings, garments, bead work, knitted objects and hooked rugs.
The exhibit extends into the lower gallery with the showing of school fiber mail-in project by middle school students, instructed by Kathy Briggs. Students created the postcards in school and then mailed their art work to the Center. Art patrons are invited to examine both sides of the cards.
The Center located 301 Main St., East Jordan is open daily from 1-4 pm. Other times can be arranged by calling Sylvia Walworth, 231-599-3065.
