Art Patrons, Designers, and Artists crowded into the Jordan River Art Center for the opening of the exhibit, Creating Spaces with Art ...personalizing interior design. Different exclamations were heard, “Most beautiful show I’ve ever seen and I have been in a lot of shows,” “I am very impressed, so much in such a small space, well coordinated,” “Incredible, exciting, the designers did a good job,” and “Very ambitious, beautiful show, but then JRAC always does it up right.”
The JRAC gallery has been divided into traditional living spaces by 15 hanging panels created by John Stevens. Twelve interior designers worked cooperatively from a floor plan designed by Jill Compton. The designers used mostly original art from area artists and included some antiques and collectibles from area patrons and businesses to create a very individualized “home.” It was the team’s goal headed by Sylvia Walworth and Chuck Hershberger to demonstrate the use of fine and utilitarian art in everyday use, yet creatively designed. The designers chose over 125 works of art from 60 area artists. A catalog accompanies the exhibit with a statement about each room, listing the artists and their work with most being for sale.
The response was so overwhelming that a special reception for members and art patrons “To Meet the Designers and Artists” is scheduled Thursday, November 4 from 7-9pm at the Art Center, 301 Main St., East Jordan. Refreshments will be served by the Board of Directors. The exhibits runs until November 14, open daily from 1-4 pm. There are still openings for the seminars relating to interior design on October 30 and November 6. For further information call Sylvia Walworth, 231-599-3065.
